Organizations that help the homeless often have resources that are stretched thin and it is something that’s especially true these days. Our current economic conditions have made homelessness a growing problem across the country as many people have lost their jobs and their homes and are now struggling to make ends meet. This has placed increasing pressure on organizations that help the homeless, who not only have to deal with a larger number of displaced people, but who have also had to contend with the decrease in corporate donations to nonprofits.
At A Good Night Sleep (AGNS), we have opted to focus on one particular aspect of homelessness that is not always prioritized, but is important nonetheless—the need for everyone to have a good night’s sleep. Things don’t always look better in the morning, but they often seem like they do when one has had a good night’s sleep. Rest lets you recharge and get an infusion of new energy; it places you at a higher level of productivity. Yet, for many, a good night’s sleep in their own bed is not something that they have on a regular basis and this is something that we and our housing partners hope to change.
Homeless Organizations
At AGNS, we have partnered and are seeking partnerships with organizations that help the homeless throughout the country. In the Los Angeles area, these include Door of Hope, People Assisting the Homeless (PATH), and the Los Angeles Downtown Women’s Center (LADWC).
